After a satisfying career as a Teacher Librarian, Kerrie Manning decided to swap two feet for four and become a Companion Animal Carer. She retrained in 2006, was awarded the Certificate 11 in Animal Studies, which grounded her with the necessary basic skills. Her interests lie with Environmental Enrichment for dogs, but she also studied Basic First Aid for Animals, Animal Rescue, Occupational Health and Safety and all the skills associated with Companion Animal Care and Selection. This builds on a lifetime of dog ownership involving a variety of breeds, a family background committed to animal welfare and animal quality of life improvement ……… and a lifelong love of dogs.
She is ably assisted by Figaro, the gentle giant, a twelve year old 30kg Standard Poodle and seven year old toy poodle/Bichon Frise (Bichon Froodle?) Coco, the meeter and greeter of the pack, who can put a new dog at its ease in the first hour and have him chasing and playing in the second. She is a brilliant asset!
